CONS TO ALTERNATIVE NESTS
Wicker
nests are good for one season, then into the trash they
go.
I personally have better things to do then waste $5-$7 per nest per
year,
and I'm sure I am not alone.
Other disadvantages to wicker nests include:
Wooden Nest boxes are just as much or more problematic then wicker as
they can be :
Unlike wicker nests
wooden nests can
be painted to prolong usability,
but this paint can easily chip/crack or peel and be digested by curious
little teething avians.
. Is
that

I
did
not think so and that is why I searched and finally found the ultimate
nest
for
professional hobbyist
or beginner.

no easy way to do nest checks or
remove addled/bad eggs -very
hard to keep clean and dis-infect -easily
dis-assembled by bored
avians/finches -must
be replaced annually for
hygenic/bacterial illimination purposes
-much heavier then wicker nests and can in many cases damage cages at
vulnerable joints and openings.
-very in-convenient to store as it
does not fold to a width as small as a newspaper -harbor bacteria even after being
disinfected in bleach water, which
is evident when they are removed from storage and covered in moulds. -
safe to use for only 1 season if un painted as the porous
wood is
an ideal breeding ground for moulds and bacteria ( #1 killer of avians
in aviculture) -Cost
of replacement is over $12 CAD per pair per season (recommended if you do not paint them)
-Is
it bulky, will it fit in my mail box? Definitely!!

-Do I need tools, mechanical
skills to put it together? Nope

in my dishwasher or sink? Yes,
unlike wooden or wicker nests the
plastic will not promote mould and
disease.

has mounts for both the front and
back, as well as a top hook for mounting
to cage tops or in trees.

use it in your aviary and why?
We
use it exclusively for the reasons listed below. -ease

to sterilize -easy

have like many others tried nest
after nest but when we found this one we were quite excited. We
knew our search was over. It
made clean up at the end of the
season extremely simple and made the worries of annual replacement
costs disappear.
-How
often do I have to replace it?
NEVER!!
-I have had wooden nests ruin the solder
on my box cages, will the
weight and strain of these nests cause the same problems? The
nest itself is extremely light
weight at only 225 grams it cuts
the weight load by half ( wooden
nest of the same size weighs 540 grams or more)
Unpack
the pieces and fold all sides together
Snap sides together as shown
Once the sides are
secure
slide on the back and front plates .Once that is
complete then
you simply add the perch and choose where Snap
to
tops to secure plate.
